Several Suggestions to go to Malang:

  1. If you come from abroad, we suggest you to fly to Jakarta (Cengkareng Airport); then take a flight from Jakarta directly to Malang.  There is only one flight per day flying from Jakarta (at 10:20am) to Malang.  The flight is operated by Sriwijaya Air.  Please ask your travel agent to contact Sriwijaya Air at: +62 21 640 5566 for booking.  If you have to stopover for a night in Jakarta, there is a decent transit hotel in the airport: Quality Hotel Bandara Jakarta (+62 21 559 0008)
  2. If you come from any other Indonesian city, you can fly or take a train/bus to Surabaya.  From Surabaya there are several travel companies providing shared minibuses to Malang.  The cost of this minibus is around Rp. 50-75 thousand.
